Frequently asked questions about the collection: Aluminium Beads

Q: Can you tell me the ALJG20 hole diameter? Do you have it, or similar, with an 8mm hole or larger?
A: The hole size of this bead can vary slightly between 2 -2.4mm wide. This is the largest bead and hole size in the round aluminum beads we have.

Q: Do you have any 4mm round beads with 1mm or 2mm holes
A: To be honest no, hole size is generally in proportion to the bead, so the 4mm beads tend to have really tiny holes, around 0.5mm. The best I can find is our mix of size 6 rocailles www.beadsunlimited.co.uk/Large-lustred-rocaille-mix/bo4018 they're little barrel shapes that are 6.5x4mm with 2mm holes.

Q: do you have pandora charms?
A: No pandora charms as such but we do have these pandora style beads with a little loop to which you can attach a dangling charm www.beadsunlimited.co.uk/Pandora-style-bead-with-bail/bo5299?sid=7937#item7937

Q: Do you sell metal beads/pendants with holes large enough to thread a scarf through?
A: Well I guess it depends on how thick your scarf is but we do have some chunky aluminium donuts www.beadsunlimited.co.uk/Large-donut-shapes/bo2360 that have 20mm wide holes in the middle, these might look nice on a scarf.

Q: do you still sell yin yang metal pendants?
A: I'm afraid we don't currently stock any ying yang pendants but I will past your suggestion onto our buying team.

Q: Does the colour change or tarnish with aluminium beads?
A: No they shouldn't ever tarnish but aluminium does oxidise over time, which basically means that it gets less shiny. We have some aluminium samples from 5 years ago and the only discernable difference is that they're a bit less shiny.

Q: Hi there do you have end caps to finish off memory wire? Thanks
A: We don't sell the memory wire ends, I'm afraid that we can't source any that are sufficiently low in nickel content to satisfy EU Nickel regulations, you can buy them from various American companies though. Some of our customers use the small metal spacer beads instead and hold them in place with glue.

Q: Hi there, what size hole is in these beads, I am interested in the oval round tubes, Thanks
A: Starting with the ovals the width of the holes are:
Oval 14x10mm (ALJF14) – 2mm
Oval 20x14mm (ALJF20) – 2mm
Round 13mm (ALJG13) – 2mm
Round 16mm (ALJG16) – 2mm
Round 20mm (ALJG20) – 3mm
Chunky tube 10x15mm (ALJH10) – 5.5mm
Tube 10x8mm (ALJJ10) – 2mm

Q: Hi. I've just purchased the aluminium bead ALJK10 10mm. It's lovely but I'm also loking for something half that size. Do you have anything that fits that description? Thanks.
A: I'm afraid that the ALJK10 www.beadsunlimited.co.uk/Roundish-10mm/bo529 is the smallest aluminium bead that we sell, we do have some smaller metal beads, these 5mm silver plated spacers www.beadsunlimited.co.uk/Pressed-5mm/bo4388 have a similar handmade irregular look but the silver plating makes them brighter than aluminium.

Q: I need a bead similar to the ALJG20 but slightly smaller - around 15mm diameter - and with a 5mm hole. Do you have anything close?

Q: I'm looking for pendants and beads that can be threaded or large enough for scarves
A: How about the chunky aluminium donuts www.beadsunlimited.co.uk/Aluminium-donut-shapes/bo530 the holes in the middle are about 150mm wide so you could thread them on a thin scarf.
