Q: what is this item used for?
A: You can use these like a normal headpin but instead of the pin on the end you've got an attractive ball that looks like a small bead. Slip your pin through a bead and the bead rests on the ball, then cut the pin about 1cm above the bead, turn this pin into a loop with a pair of pliers and you have an easy way of making a simple bead dangle like a pendant.
