Q: Hi, can you tell me what is the guideline for bead cap sizing please? i.e. if I am using 10mm round beads what size bead caps do I need? Also can I use bead caps on oval beads or just round ones? Many thanks
A: To be honest there aren't really any hard and fast rules about this, it's more about the angle of the cup of the bead cap than the overall size. This 10mm cap: CAPA, has quite a flat cup, which means it spreads out wide and a 10mm bead looks a bit silly sitting on it (more of a bead sombrero than a bead cap!). You'd need a bigger bead for it, maybe 12mm. I've tried a 10mm bead with CAPB www.beadsunlimited.co.uk/Bead-cap-7mm/bo1816 the 7mm cap and it looks a bit better.
