Frequently asked questions about the product: Beadalon 7 strand bright 30m
Q: Do you stock beading wire of .38 or above? I need a very strong wire to work with semi-precious stones.
A: The 7 and 19 strand Beadalon wire has a diameter of 0.38mm and comes in lots of colours www.beadsunlimited.co.uk/beading-wire/c434. The general rule for beading wire is the higher the strand count the strong the wire. I would also recommend Soft flex wire which has 49 strands and the medium www.beadsunlimited.co.uk/Soft-Flex-medium/bo4180 is 0.48mm and has a test strength of 26lbs and the thick www.beadsunlimited.co.uk/Soft-Flex-heavy/bo4181 is 0.60mm and can hole up to 40lbs.
Q: Hi - is this the 0.15in/0.38mm wire? - and do you also stock the thinner 0.12in/0.30mm wire?
A: Yes, that's right it's the 0.15in or 0.38mm wire. We don't have any thinner Beadalon wire but we do have some of our own brand 3 strand tiger tail wire that is 0.12in www.beadsunlimited.co.uk/Tiger-tail-3-strand/bo4183
Q: Hi, is this suitable for use with crimping beads? The wire I have tried breaks sometimes where the bead is crimped on.
A: Yes this wire is perfect to crimp on. It is nylon coated and sometimes this can get a little abraded but the wire shouldn't be affected as long as the bead is crimped properly.
Q: How do I attach a clasp please? I'd like to make a necklace with floating beads but have no idea how to finish off at the ends? Thanks
A: You will need crimps www.beadsunlimited.co.uk/Crimp/bo4025 to finish off the ends of a necklace made with beading wire. Just slip a crimp on to your wire, bend the end back through the wire to make it into a loop and then squash the crimp flat. Then once you've got your ends you can attach a clasp.
