Frequently asked questions about the product: Cufflink pad
Q: Hi, please could you tell me what are the best beads to use to glue onto the cufflink pad? Thank you
A: The best thing to glue onto a flat cufflink pad would be a cabochon, which is flat backed and not pierced like a bead. I'm afraid that we don't sell any cabochons at all, but you might be able to find a stockist via our links page at www.beadsunlimited.co.uk/home/links-related.php
Q: I am gluing a 10mm Cabachon to a 6mm pad cufflink. It keeps falling off after the 24 hour waiting period to dry. I've used E6000, and G-S Cement glue. Nothing is working. I haven't scratched up the pad though, should I to help it stick better? Why, and what can I do?
A: Wow, well E6000 is the kind of glue I would have suggested, an epoxy based glue that should be good at sticking 2 different materials together. It could be that the surfaces are too slippery (the shiny back of the cabochon and the smooth metal of the cufflink pad) but I'd beware of scratching into the cabochon backing too much - it's there to make the colour of the cabochon shine out more brightly, like a silver lining. Maybe try to give the cabochon back a bit of a rough surface with some gentle sand papering and see how that goes. Other than that I'm at a loss - Any suggestions?
Q: re question about gluing a cabouchon to a cufflink pad with epoxy glue. I buy leather offcuts and use a small piece of thin leather, cut to fit, which I then glue on first as a spacer between the two surfaces. Do this in 2 sep. operations for best results.
A: Thanks for your advice, that sounds like it would make an ideal surface for gluing.
Q: What is the best method of sticking a cabochon to a cufflink pad please?
A: Your best bet would be to use epoxy glue, which is great for sticking together metal and other materials. We sell epoxy glue here - www.beadsunlimited.co.uk/Epoxy-two-part-glue/bo1018
Q: What is the diameter of the pad please? Phew! I'm relieved at finding this site l will place an order ASAP as you seem to have everything I am interested in!
A: The cufflink pad is 13mm in diameter. Glad we can be of assistance!
Q: You used to do a 11mm cufflink pad, will you be getting these back in stock?
A: Yes, you're right, we have been getting a variety of different types of cufflinks from our supplier recently, we might not be able to get the 11mm ones again though I'm afraid. You may be able to find a stockist via our links page at www.beadsunlimited.co.uk/home/links-related.php
