Frequently asked questions about the product: Epoxy two part glue

Q: A friend has aked me to reset a stone in some earrings she bought. Which glue should I use for this please?
A: I'd suggest the epoxy glue for stickingdifferent types of material together. The epoxy glue comes in two parts so you need to mix it together, all you need is a matchstick and some patience.

Q: Can I use epoxy glue on sterling silver? Thank you
A: Epoxy glue is ideal for fixing metal objects together. It might be a bit tricky unless you have a good flat surface area to bond to.

Q: Can this glue stick threads together?
A: I wouldn't recommend this glue for attaching threads together as it works best on metal and ceramic items which have a flat surface to bond too.

Q: Do you have a size for the tubes, ie volume or weight?
A: Each tube is 5oz or 14.2 grams.

Q: Hi will this Stick polymer clay to ribbons and fabrics?
A: This glue isn't really suitable to use on fabric. I would suggest trying a strong PVA or fabric glue which should hold the fimo as long as the piece has quite a large area to bond to.

Q: hi, i have to glue together bamboo, fimo air, acrylic and silver bead ends will this product keep all these together? i am currently using bostik but want to be sure everythings all together after its been through the mail?
A: The epoxy glue is very suitable for gluing different types of material together especially plastic, wood and metal. It will dry fully after about an hour and should be quite durable.

Q: Hi, would this work for sticking crystals onto the rubber toe of shoes ( converse), thank you.
A: This should work. It would be worth testing this out somewhere you cannot see on the shoe to make sure the glue does not damage the rubber.

Q: How durable is this glue for items that receive a lot of punishment, such as rings? I have experimented with superglue, but it lasted about 5 minutes!
A: This epoxy glue works better with our metal rings than superglue does, because it is ideal sticking two different materials together, such as metal and glass. It will be properly dry after about an hour and should last a long time. It's also water resistant so will be quite durable.

Q: I have a Brass Cap badge (CSA with Laurel leaves each side of the letters) I want to stick this to my Leather Western Gun belt holster which is slightly rounded, will this do the job and will it last, as I carry out re-enactments inside and outside events?
A: This glue is ideal for fixing metal to other materials but it would really depend on the area you were attaching it to. To get the best bond it is best to join two flat surfaces and I couldn't say specifically how long the bond will last you would have to test it yourself.

Q: I seem to be having trouble finishing off my Shamballa bracelets as most of the instructions I have found suggest glue. Would this work on the leather or waxed cord?
A: I would recommend using our superglue www.beadsunlimited.co.uk/Superglue/bo1019 or just regular PVA when fixing either cotton or leather cord.

Q: I've noticed that most two part epoxy glues have one yellowish component. I am looking for a COMPLETELY CLEAR glue (both components). Is your epoxy glue clear? I am using it on glass and the yellow colouration shows through.
A: To be honest I wasn't sure about this so I've just tested it. Both parts of the glue come out clear, then I've mixed them together and I've spread the glue across some clear plastic. I'm happy to report that when it dries it's completely clear, no yellowish tinge. I don't know whether this changes over time, or how long it may take for a yellow tinge to appear.

Q: Is this a non-toxic safe glue to use?
A: This glue isn't labelled as non-toxic and does come with a warning to avoid contact with eyes and skin as it can cause irritation.

Q: Is this glue easy to use? I've tried a two part glue which is incredibly fiddly and takes so long to get right. What is involved in using this product? Thank you! :)
A: It's quite easy to use all you need is a clean surface and something to stir it with, like a matchstick. I've used it myself and I think the best tip is to mix a small bit at a time.

Q: Is this glue good to use on memory wire?
A: Yes this is ideal for using with metal findings.

Q: Is this glue safe to use for earrings? Also do you sell the the rings for fingers that can be decorated?
A: Yes, it is and it's great for sticking two different materials together, e.g. metal to plastic. We have a great range of finger rings at www.beadsunlimited.co.uk/Ring-Necklace-Bracelet-Parts/c656

Q: is this the best glue to stick a brooch bar to fabric? Would copydex be better?
A: Epoxy would work fine on thick, sturdy fabrics like felt. However on anything thinner it may show through. You'd be best checking in a fabric shop for the kind of glue they would recommend.

Q: Is this the best glue to stick Polymer clay to metal or other material?
A: Yes, it's best to use a 2 part glue like this to stick two different materials to each other as the bond has to be pretty strong.

Q: Is this the correct adhesive to stick cabochons onto jewellery?if not, what is? Also what it the correct way to apply them?
A: Yes, the epoxy glue is great to stick two different materials together like plastic, or glass to metal. After mixing it apply it to the two surfaces, then press them together. You should be able to handle it after 15 minutes and it should be properly dry in an hour.

Q: what would be the best glue to stick beads onto knitted metal wire? - not completely flat so unsure if the epoxy is the right one.
A: We only stock this and the Superglue at present, as a general rule epoxy is better for non-porous materials and Superglue is more suited for porous so it will depend what your beads are made of really. Superglue can be used with metal but I'd be inclined to try the epoxy first, even on an uneven surface.

Q: Which glue should I use to stick glass to china and pot please?
A: I would recommend this epoxy glue which is great for bonding non-porous materials.

Q: Will this glue stick metal end caps to leather cord?
A: Yes this glue is very strong and dries clear. It is ideal for attaching metal items to other materials.

Q: Would a clear wood glue work with threads?
A: I normally recommend a PVA or superglue to fix cord so this should be fine but I would suggest doing a trial piece first.

Q: Would this glue be strong enough to fix a brooch pin to the back of a silver clay charm? Customer has decided they would like it made into a brooch but its already been fired.
A: I haven't tried it but would think so; it lists metal, ceramics and china on the packaging. Apparently it's also useful for repairing bikes, boats and skis so strength shouldn't be a problem!

Q: would this glue work on plastic beads(round) to velvet material
A: I think the Superglue would probably be better as epoxy is recommended for non-porous materials. Easier too as you don't have to mix it!
