A: The plastic coating on this wire unfortunately isn't ideal for knotting as they tend to slip. I would instead recommend our soft flex which is knottable www.beadsunlimited.co.uk/Soft-Flex-fine/bo4179.

A: Using conversion guides the 0.45mm plastic coated wire is 25 gauge (AWG).

Q: Hello - Can you advise what type of wire I would need to create an illusion necklace with medium sized lampwork beads. I would like to create a necklace with either steel or black coloured wire and use black or steel crimps to hold these in place. I like the idea of showing off the wire too, so ideally the thicker the better, but am unsure of what crimps and wire I ideally should be looking at.

Q: How does this differ from the coloured Beadalon 7wire? Can it be used for the same purpose?
A: It can be used in exactly the same way. It isn't as strong as the Beadalon 7 strand. Beadalon is 7 strands of coloured steel with a clear nylon coating bonded to it. This plastic coated wire has fewer strands of steel and the colouring comes from the plastic coating. It is inexpensive and fun.
