Frequently asked questions about the product: Thing a ma jig
Q: Does thing a ma jig come in metal as well as in plastic?
A: We currently only stock a plastic Wire Jig.
Q: I bought the jig and it came with silver, gold and copper wire, but I can't seem to find out what gauge they are. Can you help?
A: I'm afraid the Jig's we have in stock at the moment are from a different supplier and don't contain the wire. I would say that the wire is most likely either 0.4mm(26 Gauge) or 0.6mm(22 Gauge).
Q: what does the thing a ma jig do?
A: The 'thing a ma jig' is a plastic board with holes, where you can insert pegs to create a pattern. You then pull and wrap your wire around the pegs to create the design or shape you want. If you click on the picture of the jig that is on the website, it will enlarge it and you can see the plastic pegs that are included in the pack. There are patterns available online for the jig, or you can design your own!
Q: What tools do i need so that i can make things with the thing a ma jig?
Do you sell the wire for it and where can i find it on your site?
A: You just need a thing a ma jig and maybe some cutters www.beadsunlimited.co.uk/Professional-pliers/bo926 or some multi pliers www.beadsunlimited.co.uk/Multi-pliers/bo1028 to cut and shape the wire, thinner wire can be shaped with your fingers. Try any of the wires in this collection www.beadsunlimited.co.uk/wire-metal-based/c435 the optimum thickness would be 0.4mm, 0.6mm or 0.8mm.
Q: What type of wire do I need to use with the jig to make jewellery that will keep it's shape?
A: It depends on the design to some extent, however a 0.8mm wire and above should hold the shape created fairly well. Lightly hammering your finished piece will help with this too.
