Q: Are there any back I can get for post earrings that will allow me to use a phone without getting speared in the head?
A: I would recommend our monster scroll backs www.beadsunlimited.co.uk/Monster-scroll-back/bo4067 which have a metal insert inside a plastic disc. These are quite large and should cover the post behind the earring.

Q: Are your earring parts hypoallergenic?
A: All our findings are low nickel and conform to the EU Nickel Directives 94/27 & 2004/96. The Nickel Directive imposes limits on the amount of nickel that may be released from jewellery and other products intended to come into direct and prolonged contact with the skin. This is 0.2 µg/cm2/week for post assemblies which are inserted into pierced ears and other pierced parts of the human body and 0.5 µg/cm2/week for other products intended to come into direct and prolonged contact with the skin. Q: Do you have those tiny plastic stops that you put on the back of earring wires to stop them falling out from your ear?
A: We have plastic scroll backs but these are designed more for using with stud earrings www.beadsunlimited.co.uk/Plastic-scroll-back/bo4068, these can be used with long ballwires but unfortunately we don't sell anything specifically designed for the backs of long ballwires.

Q: Do you sell Sterling Silver stud and hook earwires?

Q: do you sell white gold scroll backs for earrings
A: I'm afraid we don't sell any white gold at all, just sterling silver, gold plate and silver plate.

Q: Do you still stock the low nickel version of the long ball wire ear hooks?
A: All of our findings comply with current nickel regulations, the long ballwires are all low nickel.

Q: Do you stock leverback earring wires? I prefer them for drop earrings. Many thanks.
A: I'm afraid we don't sell leverbacks at all, we just have the long ballwires, or studs (or clips and screws for non-pierced earrings).

Q: Do you stock silver/ silver coloured "stud and hooks"?

Q: does SP mean silver plated?
A: Yes that's right, the SP always indicates silver plating and GP is for gold plating.

Q: Earscrew, that sounds painful... what are they?
A: If you don't have pierced ears they are a way of wring earrings, you tighten the screw on the piece and it keeps it securely on your ear. It may sound like a form of medieval torture but it's not painful at all (unless you were to put really heavy beads on it!).

Q: I am always losing earrings. Where can I find 'earwires' that lock together so that they cannot fall off?

Q: I bought the long ball wire fish hooks for earrings and was trying to thread thin wire through the hole at the top top. Unfortunately it keeps slipping out . Could you tell me a way of tightening them up or are they all faulty? Thanks
A: (E)Thanks for your query. I’m ever so sorry but I don’t quite understand what it is you’re trying to do, could you possibly let me have some more details so I can advise? As far as I’m aware there aren’t any problems with the long ballwires, they’re most commonly used with jump rings to attach the earring drop.

Q: I know your ear wires are low nickel but can you tell me what they are made from as people keep asking me this!
A: They are an amalgam of base metals which are then plated.

Q: What do I need to buy to convert earrings for pierced ears into ones that I can wear in non-pierced ears? What kinds of attachments are available for non-pierced ears?

These come with loops to attach your earrings to but you may also need a jump ring www.beadsunlimited.co.uk/Jump-Rings/c425.

Q: What do you recommend to use I would like to make a shamballa stud earring.
A: You could try using our flat stud earring findings www.beadsunlimited.co.uk/Flat-stud-6mm-pad-SP/bo4064 but as the beads are round and uneven that might not have enough surface area to attach properly with just glue www.beadsunlimited.co.uk/Epoxy-two-part-glue/bo1018. Alternatively you might try searching for peg and post earring bases as these have a peg that fits through the hole in the shamballa giving it more of a secure hold.

Q: Years ago I bought surgical steel ear wires from you, do you still do these. Thanks
A: I'm sorry, we discontinued the surgical steel finish about 2 or 3 years ago to bring the findings into line and have just 4 finishes across the range.
