Memory wire
Memory wire in two gauges, continuous or ready cut lengths
Memory wire is simple but effective. It is designed to keep its shape. If necessary cut with memory wire cutters (it will seriously blunt other cutters). Bend loops at each end to keep your beads from sliding around and slipping off.

Frequently asked questions about the collection: memory wire
Q: Can memory wire be purchased by the metre length as opposed to individual pieces?
A: No, I'm afraid that the memory wire is only measured by pieces in retail quantities, you could always buy some of the heavyweight memory wire that comes in one big length (coiled over many times) and cut it up.
Q: Do you have little end beads for memory wire? Lou
A: I'm afraid we don't currently have any memory wire ends in our range. We haven't been able to source any memory wire ends that are compliant with EU Nickel regulations.
Q: Do you sell memory wire bracelets to fit children
A: The memory wire coils MWS www.beadsunlimited.co.uk/Heavyweight-memory-wire-small/bo831 would be the best size for a child but still a bit big, they are intended for adults. You can bend and shape memory wire with pliers, squeezing it into a tighter coil, it takes some strength but can be done.
Q: do you sell wine glass charm rings
A: We don't have a product specifically intended for this purpose but a lot of our customers have made wine glass charms using either hanging hoops at www.beadsunlimited.co.uk/Hanging-hoop-small/bo766 or memory wire rings at www.beadsunlimited.co.uk/Memory-wire-ring/bo840
Q: Hello, I was just wondering whether the heavyweight large memory wire was a pack of singular coils, or just one big coiled wire?
A: It comes as a continuous coil.
Q: hi im quite new to this beading . im trying to find out how you finish off the ends of memory wire? just dont seem to be able to do it ? thankyou 4 any help
A: To finish off the ends of memory wire, you can either attach a stopper like a small bead and glue it into place (or use memory wire ends - we can't source any memory wire ends that are sufficiently low in nickel content to satisfy EU Nickel regulations, but you can buy them from various American companies) or you can use pliers to bend the ends over and back on themselves to form a spiral or a loop. For other ideas on finishing memory wire you could take a look at this necklace project - www.beadsunlimited.co.uk/projects/blue-moon-necklace/62
Q: I am looking for bracelet wire slightly thicker than memory wire can you help
A: You could try our various coloured and plated wires www.beadsunlimited.co.uk/wire-metal-based/c71 they're flexible and easy to use but they won't spring back into shape like memory wire.
Q: I sell heavy bead necklaces that are often returned as the thread used is not strong enough. Would memory wire be suitable?
A: It might well be, but it depends on how you want the wire to behave and how you finish it with clasps etc. Memory wire is really rigid, you can bend it into shape with pliers, it wants to return to the shape it holds and is quite determined. It's hard to finish because you can't crimp onto it (it's too rigid) so you have to bend the wire into a hook on either side and that doesn't always look too professional. There are a range of findings that you can buy for memory wire but we can't get any that are low nickel. If you're looking for a stronger beading wire you could give 19 strand beadalon a try: www.beadsunlimited.co.uk/Beadalon-19-strand-bright/bo989
Q: Would it be possible to make napkin rings with memory wire? Thanks
A: Sure, you can bend and twist the memory wire with pliers and it will spring back into the shape you give it. You can try beading the rings and then they'll wrap neatly around napkins.
