Memory wire
Memory wire in two gauges, continuous or ready cut lengths
Memory wire is simple but effective. It is designed to keep its shape. If necessary cut with memory wire cutters (it will seriously blunt other cutters). Bend loops at each end to keep your beads from sliding around and slipping off.

Frequently asked questions about the collection: memory wire
Q: do you sell the memory wire end caps at all?
A: We don't currently sell the memory wire ends but use can use our 2.4mm www.beadsunlimited.co.uk/Silver-plated-round-2-4mm/bo4368 www.beadsunlimited.co.uk/Silver-plated-round-3mm/bo4370 and 3mm metal round spacer beads in the same way. You will need to glue these on and I would recommend our epoxy glue www.beadsunlimited.co.uk/Epoxy-two-part-glue/bo1018 as it is very strong particularly on metal items and dries clear. Alternatively you can bend the ends of your memory wire into loops with a pair of round nosed pliers.
Q: Hi, are there any advantages/disadvantages between the lighter memory wire and the heavier wire? I want to use the bracelets with gemstone chips and 6mm glass beads. Regards
A: I'd recommend the heavier weight memory wire if you'll be using heavy stones and glass beads as heavy beads could alter the shape of the lightweight wire.
Q: I bought some memory wire to make a wrap round bracelet, It does keep the circular shape but the loops seem to stretch out. Am I using the wrong kind of wire? If so what would you suggest?
A: You can bend the wire with pliers to make the loops tighter, once bent with pliers the wire should spring back into this shape. If you want something to keep the loops together you could try our 3 hole spacers www.beadsunlimited.co.uk/Three-hole-spacer-SP/bo5207 thread them onto your wire and they will keep the bracelet spaced out evenly.
Q: I want to make a bracelet using swarovski wild heart beads, is memory wire the best thing to use or can you recommend a suitable thread?
A: These Swarovski hearts have the hole at the very top of the bead and would work best by using a jump ring or bail on which to hang them from. I think memory wire or a thread would be difficult to hang the hearts from and I would recommend making the base of the bracelet using Heavy Chain, www.beadsunlimited.co.uk/home/search.php?searchfor=chh. You could follow this simple weaving technique as seen in this project www.beadsunlimited.co.uk/projects/tweeting-birds-bracelet/151, or alternatively you could use jump rings to create your own chain as seen in www.beadsunlimited.co.uk/projects/vintage-style-charm-bracelet/77.
Q: I was looking for the end beads you can glue on to the end of memory wire?
A: Unfortunately we don't sell the end beads for memory wire anymore, but you can use the metal spacer beads in the same way - www.beadsunlimited.co.uk/metal-spacer-beads-connectors/c452
Q: I wish to make bracelets with difering numbers of coils. Do you supply memory wire in long lengths whic I can then cut into say 3,4 or 5 coils?
A: Yes we have Memory wire that come in a continuous length which you can cut to your desired length www.beadsunlimited.co.uk/Heavyweight-memory-wire-small/bo4145 there are approximately 75 coils per pack.
Q: I've made some memory wire necklaces but the ends are very sharp. How do I finish them off securely and attractively?
A: Yes memory wire can be really sharp and scratchy at the ends. You can either bend it over into a fancy scroll or loop with pliers and a bit of determination, or you glue on tiny metal spacer beads, the 2.4mm spacers are the best size for memory wire.
Q: what gauge is your heavyweight memory wire?
A: The heavyweight memory wire is 0.6mm which is 24 gauge, I think.
Q: what is DMC memory wire and do you stock it?
A: A coloured thread with a wire running through, so that it will hold its shape. The closest thing we have to this is our gympa wire www.beadsunlimited.co.uk/Gympa-1mm/bo4222
Q: what size memory wire to use for wine glass charms
A: Try the ring size memory wire www.beadsunlimited.co.uk/Heavyweight-memory-wire-tiny/bo4150
Q: Where can I buy smaller circles of memory to fit a childs wrists. The regular memory wire is much to big.
A: We have two types of Memory wire our own pre-cut 4 coil bracelets and Beadalon remembrance wire which comes on a continuous coil. The Beadalon bracelets are slightly smaller than our pre cut ones with a diameter of 50mm and these are beadalons smallest size bracelet. It will also depend on the size of beads you are using because if they are quite large they will make the bracelet size smaller.
Q: which size of memory wire is best for children's bracelets?
A: The bracelet size memory wire would be best, it will be too big but you can reshape it by pulling it into a tighter coil with pliers. Memory wire is tough stuff so once you have re-shaped it should spring back into the shape you've given it.
