Gold Leather Macramé Jewellery Set

By using simple knotting techniques you can create this striking jewellery set to remind you of a golden beach. Gold findings give this set a real depth of colour and a touch of glamour.

Materials
- 1 x 10m 1mm thin leather gold (LTN32)
- 1 x packet 3 large bolt rings gold plated (BRLGP)
- 4 x leather crimp round gold plated (LRSGP)
- 20 x 6mm brass washer gold plated (MTDD32)
- 4 x 12mm wood bead natural (WDCA12)
- 8 x 15mm matt wood bead violet (WDB13)
- 1 x 15 7mm jump rings gold plated (JR7GP)
- You will also need 1 pair of craft multi pliers (CRMT)
- 1 x project sheet (MJ1010P)
Stage 1
Cut two 180cm lengths of leather. Fold in half and tie a knot. Attach this loop to something sturdy (e.g. pin it to your trousers or attach to a door handle). You will have two central strands known as the ‘lazy cords’ and two outside strands.Stage 2
To tie the macramé knot, pass the left hand outside strand underneath the lazy cords and over the right hand cord.Pass the right hand strand over the lazy cords and through the loop. Pull tight.
Stage 3
Repeat step 2 until you have a 3.5cm knotted section. It will create the twist automatically. Tie all four strands into a knot. Thread on a washer, a 10mm natural wood bead and another washer. Tie another knot. (Always use the two shortest lengths as your lazy cords).Stage 4
5cm along the four strands tie them into a knot. Thread on a washer, a 15mm violet bead and another washer. Tie a knot. Measure 5cm along and tie a second knot. Tie the macramé knot to make 4cm. Tie the four strands into a knot. Thread on a washer, a 15mm violet bead and another washer. Tie a knot. Tie the macramé knot to make 4cm.Stage 5
Trim the four strands 1cm above the last knot. Thread a round leather crimp on and squeeze the last coil to keep in place, repeat steps 1 to 5 to make a second section. Attach a 7mm jump ring to one crimp end and a 7mm jump ring with a bolt ring clasp to the other. Join the loops at the other end of the sections with a 7mm jump ring.Stage 6
Cut two 30cm lengths of leather, fold in half and tie a knot. Thread on a washer, a 15mm violet bead, a washer, a 15mm violet bead, a washer, a 15mm violet bead and a washer. Tie the four strands into a knot and trim any excess. Attach the top loop to the centre 7mm jump ring.Stage 7
Make the bracelet in the same way, adding the beads as pictured. Make them the length you require. For the bracelet use two 80cm strands of leather. This is what your finished set should look like.
