Macramé Jewellery Set

Materials

• 10 x 14mm woven cloth floral bead lilac (CTCA4)
• 5 x 14mm woven cloth floral bead multi (CTCA2)
• 5 x 14mm woven cloth floral bead pink (CTCA3)
• 1 x 0.6mmx10m coloured wire lilac (CLW0624)
• 1 x 12 eyepins silver plated (EPSP)
• 1 x 6 long ballwires silver plated (LBWSP)
• 1 x 10 8mm jump ring silver plated (JR8SP)
• 1 x trigger clasp silver plated (TRGSP)
• 1m x light chain silver plated (CHLSP)
• 1m x 0.8mm elasticity clear (EYK05)
• 1 x project sheet (GMC1103P)
• You will also need a set of craft pliers (CRMT)

Stage 1

Cut a 30cm length of wire and a 20cm length. Fold in half and twist around a pair of round nosed pliers to create a loop. Arrange the wire so that you have two shorter central strands known as the ‘lazy cords’ and two outside strands.

Stage 2

To tie the macramé knot, pass the left hand outside strand underneath the lazy cords and over the right hand cord.
Pass the right hand strand over the lazy cords and through the loop. Pull tight.

Stage 3

Repeat step 2 until you have a 3.5cm knotted section. It will twist automatically, so flatten with your fingers as you go. Wrap each of the longer lengths around the lazy cords.

Stage 4

Trim the lazy cords 1.5cm above the wrapped section. Bend into a loop, wrap the longer lengths around twice more and trim. Squeeze in any sharp ends, and bend the section slightly. Make five more.

Stage 5

Open the eye of an eyepin; attach to the loop of one of the macramé sections and close the loop on the eyepin. Thread on a bead, trim 1cm above the bead, bend into a loop join to a second macramé section and close the loop. Repeat to join each section. Attach a bead in the same way to each end of the joined sections, and attach a jump ring to the other end of the eyepins.

Stage 6

Cut two 7cm lengths of light chain. Attach one length of chain to each of the jump rings on the necklace section. Join a jump ring to one end of the chain and a jump ring and trigger clasp to the other.

Stage 7

To make the earrings follow steps one and two using a 15cm length and a 10cm length of wire. Make three of the macramé knots, then pass all of the lengths of wire through a bead, trim 1cm above the bead and bend all of the wires at the same time into a loop. Attach a long ballwire to the knotted end of the macramé. Repeat to make a pair.

Stage 8

To make the bracelet take the wire and make a coil of three rings with the round nosed pliers, trim the excess wire. Make eleven more. Thread a bead, then a coil onto a 30cm length of elasticity. Alternate the beads and coils until you have added eleven more beads. Tie the elasticity in a few knots and thread the ends back through the beads and trim any excess elasticity.

Stage 9

This is what your finished set should look lilke.
