Free Instruction: Chain Maille Rose

This basic chain maille technique is a great technique to learn and can enhance many of your jewellery making projects.

Materials Needed

6 x 8mm Jump Rings (JR8)

6 x 5mm Jump Rings (JR5)

2 x Ear Wires (LBW)

2 x Tiny Glass Pendant (GLTQ)

Tools Required

2 Pairs of Chain Nosed Pliers

Instructions

1. Close 1 8mm jump ring, open 2 8mm jump rings and open 3 5mm jump rings. (Photo 1)
2. Pass an open 8mm jump ring through the closed ring and close this ring. (Photo 2)
3. Pass the 3rd ring through the previous two rings ensuring that you are passing through in the same direction and close the ring. (Photo 3)
4. Lay the 3 rings on top of each other, you may need to flip a ring to get them to sit neatly. (Photo 4)
5. Pass a 5mm ring through all 8mm rings and thread on a glass pendant and close this ring. (Photo 5)
6. Pass a 2nd 5mm ring through all 8mm rings and close it. (Photo 6)
7. Pass the last 5mm ring through the 5mm ring and pass on the ear wire, ensuring that you add the ear wire the right way around so the pendant hangs correctly. Close the ring. (Photo 7)
8. Repeat all steps to make a 2nd earring.
