Free Instructions: Autumn Sun Earrings


Learn how to make your own Autumn Sun earrings. These earrings are a wonderful statement, they have a fabulous movement, they are so lovely and light to wear! We have chosen a soft subtle colour way, but why not go bold with your own choice of colours! This project is perfect for  beginners to beadweaving.

 

Materials needed:

2 x 18mm open circle link (MT1EL18GP)

2 x Ear wires (LBWGP)

1 Reel of golden yellow nymo (NMD15)

3g size 11/0 matte metallic gold (ME1132)

6g size 11/0 matte metallic gold iris (ME1114)

 

Tools Required:

size 13 beading needle (ND13)

a pair of sharp scissors (SCIMX)

Beading mat (BMT)

one pair of chain nosed pliers (BEECN)(PR1CN)

 

Instructions

Legend: A - size 11/0 matte metallic gold iris seed bead, B = Size 11/0 matte metallic gold seed bead

 1. Cut 1m of stretched beading thread, thread your needle. Tie an overhand knot around your circle, (photo 1a), leaving a 20cm thread. Tie another overhand knot (photo 1b)
2.  Thread 2A, pass your needle around under your circle, and up through the second seed bead you threaded. (Photo 2a &2b) make sure to keep your beads to a good tension, and they sit snugly up against your end knot.
 
3. Pick up 1A  pass your needle under your circle and back up the through same bead (photo 3a) Position your bead snugly against the last bead, keeping a good tension (photo 3b)
4. Repeat step 3 until you have 9 As around your circle (photo 4)
5. Thread 16A, 11B on to your thread, turn back, miss out the last B you added, and pass back through the same thread path, including the A that is sitting against the cricle. Pull to a snug tension. (photo 5)
6. Pass down the next A (photo 6)
7. Repeat step 5, with 21 A, 11B
8. Repeat step 6
9. Repeat step 5, with 26A, 11B
10. Repeat step 6
11. Repeat step 5, with 31A, 11B
12. Repeat step 6
13. Repeat step 5 with 36A, 11B (photo 7)
14. Repeat steps 5- 15 but in reverse order (photo 8)
15. Remove your needle, and thread onto your tail. Pass over the circle, and down the As on the end row. (Photo 9)
16. Sew in and secure your threads (photo 10)

17. Using chain nosed pliers, open an ear wire, and loop the circle onto it, close the ear wire.
18. Repeat all the steps again to make a matching pair!
We fancied using Autumnal colours, but why not experiment and choose your own colour ways!
