Free Instructions: Open Hearted Earrings


Follow our step by step instructions to make this cute open heart bead earrings. We chose to feature a heart clay bead, but of course you could choose a different feature bead, we think it would look wonderful with a semi precious bead dangle

Materials Required

2 x feature beads - we used Polymer clay hearts (FMBO)
2 x Open heart drops (MT1EM)
4 x 3mm metal beads (MTEA3031)
2 x Headpins (HPSP)
2 x 5mm jump rings (JR5SP)
2 x ear wires  (LBWSP)
 

Tools Required

Side cutters (BEESP)
2 x chain nosed pliers (BEECN)
Round Nosed Pliers (BEERN)

Instructions

1. Take one headpin, thread one 3mm bead, one polymer clay bead, one 3mm bead (photo 1a), using side cutters, trim your head pin 10mm along from the end metal bead (photo 1b)

 
2. Using chain nosed pliers, fold your headpin over as close to the top bead as possible (photo 2a), using round nosed pliers turn a neat loop (photo 2b)
 
3. Using your chain nosed pliers, open one of your jump rings, link your polymer clay charm you made onto it, then take one open heart drop and link it on, using the small loop at the top of the heart (photo 3)
 
4. Take your ear wire and loop it onto the jump ring, use your chain nosed pliers to close your jump ring (photo 4) 
 
5. Repeat all the steps again to make your second earring! 

Matching Necklace?

 


Why not make a matching necklace? Repeat all the steps, but at step 4, add a chain instead of an ear wire (photo 5)
