1. Thread a needle onto either end of a comfortable length of stretched beading thread, ( we use about 80cm ) Pick up 15A.
2. Cross your left needle over to the right side. On your right needle, pass back through the first A added in step 1- in the opposite direction the left needle came through. (Photo 1a & 1B). This will be half of your beaded clasp, take one 6mm glass pearl bead and check this loop passes over the 6mm beads, you want a tight fit to make sure it’s secure, but ensure that you can pass the loop over the bead comfortably. If it feels too tight, loosen the thread slightly, or go back to step 1 but thread 16A instead.
3. With both needles together, pick up 1B, a 6mm pearl, 1B (photo 2)
4. Pick up 7As on each needle (photo 3)
5. On your left needle, pick up one 8mm glass pearl, pass your left needle over to your right side. Take your right needle and pass through the 8mm in the opposite direction that the left needle came from(photo 4)
6. Pick up 7As on each needle (photo 5)
7. With both needles together, pick up 1B, a 6mm glass pearl, 1B (photo 6)
8. Repeat step 4-7 five times
9. With both needles together, pick up 2A, a 6mm, 1A (photo 7)
10. Pass both your needles around last A you picked up in the previous step, and back through the 6mm, 2A, 1B, 6mm, 1B (photo 8) (we found it easier to turn our beadwork on it’s side at this point)
11. You are now where the thread path splits, pass one needle through one thread path, and back through 7A (photo 9), repeat for the other needle/thread path.
12. Pick up 1A and pass through the next 7As (photo 10a), repeat for the other needle/thread path (photo 10b)
13. Pass both needles through the next 1B, 6mm, 1B ( photo 11 )
14. Repeat steps 11, 12 & 13 until your reach the end of your bracelet, weave in and secure your threads.
With your working thread, create a loop around an existing thread path, pass through the loop, tighten to secure. Continue to weave along the existing thread path, then trim.
