Free Instructions: Twinkle Drop Earrings


Twinkle away in these little double beaded drop earrings. Ideal for beginners.

Materials Needed: 5g Size 11/0 Silver Lined Seed Beads ( S1131), 2 Earwires ( LBWSP), 1 Reel of Nymo (NMD02), 6 x 2.4mm Metal beads (MTEA2431), 4 x 5mm Metal (MTEA5031), 2 x 8mm micro facet glass beads (GLUK), 2 x 10mm micro facet glass beads (GLUT)


Tools Needed: Size 10 beading needle (ND10), two pairs of chain nosed pliers (BEECN).

Instructions

  1. Thread 1metre of stretched beading thread onto your needle. Thread 1 of your 2.4mm beads (or any small bead - we just used a size 8/0 seed bead) pass your thread around and back through the bead in the same direction as the first time (photo 1). Be careful not to catch the needle on the thread as you pass through the bead for the second time. This is your stop bead, but it needs to be able to slide along the thread. Gently slide the bead along your thread so you have a 30cm tail.

  2. Thread one 2.4mm bead, one 5mm bead, one 10mm bead (photo 2)

  3. Pick up ten seed beads, pass around and back up through the 10mm bead (photo 3a) make sure the 10mm bead is tucked snugly against the other beads you threaded in the previous step, keep a good tension, so the beads stay in the right position (photo 3b)

  4. Repeat step 3 five more times, so you have six lines of seed beads around your 10mm beads, position so they are spaced out evenly (photo 4)

  5. Pick up one 5mm bead, one 2.4mm bead, one 8mm micro facet bead, one 2.4mm bead (photo 5)

  6. Pick up six seed beads, circle around and pass through the first seed bead again to create a circle (photo 6) be careful not to catch your needle on the thread as you’re passing it through (photo 6)

  7. Pull the circle snugly against the 2.4mm bead. Pass around through the next five seed bead in the circle (photo 7)

  8. Pass back down the 2.4mm bead, the 8mm bead, the 2.4mm and 5mm metals beads, the 10mm bead, the 5mm and 2.4mm metal bead (photo 8)

  9. Miss out the first 2.4mm metal bead, then thread up through all the beads in step 8 - but in the opposite direction (photo 9)

  10. Slide your stop bead off your thread tail. Thread your needle onto your tail. Missing out the 2.4mm, pass through the same beads as in step 9 (photo 10)

  11. Weave in and secure both your threads (photo 11)

  12. Using flat nosed pliers, open up the loop on a ear wire, and hook it through the seed bead circle you created at the end of your earring (photo 12)

  13. Repeat all the steps again to make your second earring

You're finished !
