Free Instructions: Personalised Bead Keyring

Make a super cute personalised keyring! Ideal for kids, with the help of an adult. We love rainbow colours, but you can choose which colours you like! This would make a lovely handmade gift for friends and family, perhaps a gift for a teacher at Christmas or the end of term. Slide on to a bunch of keys, loop through a zip on a pencil case or a coat. Or dangle it anywhere else with pride!

Materials needed

Pony beads ( We used PLCN )

Letter beads ( We used PLBG6MX )

1mm thick Rat tail ( We used RT1MX )

Tools Required

A pair of sharp scissors ( SCIMX )

Instructions

1. Cut a 50cm length of rat tail, depending on how long your keyring will be. It's best to have too much then not enough!

2. Fold the length in half, and tie an overhand knot, approx one inch from the fold, creating a loop ( photo 1 )

3. Thread one bead on to one of your threads ( photo 2 )

4. Pass your other thread through this bead, in the opposite direction of the first thread ( photo 3 )

5. On one thread pick up two pony beads, pass your other thread through them in the opposite direction. ( photo 4 )

6. Pick up one pony bead, pick up your first letter bead, and one pony bead. Pass the other thread through them in the opposite direction. ( photo 5 )

TIP: keep your threads to a good consistent tension, not too baggy, but not too tight!

7. Continue step 7 until you have finished the name you are spelling

8. On one thread pick up two pony beads, pass your other thread through them in the opposite direction. ( photo 6 )

9. On one thread pick up one pony bead, pass your other thread through it in the opposite direction. Tie an overhand knot against this last bead ( photo 7 )
