Free Instructions: Chevron Pony Bracelet

Follow our instructions and start bead weaving to make our stretchy Chevron Pony Bracelet! Who says you need needles to bead weave! This is a great project to make with kids (they may need some adult help!). Pony beads have lovely big holes to work with, they are perfect to use with our cotton covered elastic. Create your own  playful and fun jewellery!

Pony beads are not suitable for small children, children should always be supervised when working with small beads and scissors

Materials needed:  36 pony beads, 12 of each of the three colour - (if you’re making with 3 colours) we used the Patriot mix (PLCNPA), 1 metre of cotton coloured elastic (EL)

Tools Required : a sharp pair of scissors (SCIMX), a beading mat (BMT2)

Legend:

A= blue

B= red

C= white/silver/clear
or substitute these colours with colours of your choice!

TIP: when you’re working, keep a good tension to your elastic so your beadwork keeps its shape

1. Take your 1m length of elastic, thread 2A, 1 B onto it, move them down your elastic leaving a 15cm tail - so that the B is nearest the tail end of your elastic  (photo 1)

2. Circle your thread anticlockwise around and down your 1B to create a circle (photo 2)

3. Pick up 1 A, working anti clockwise - pass through the next 1A, pick up 1 A, pass through the next 1A, pick up  1A, then pass down through the  1B (photo 3)

4. Working anti clockwise, pass through the next 3As (photo 4)

5. Pick up 2C, working clockwise circle your elastic around up the end 1A (photo 5)

6. Pick up 1C, working clockwise, pass through the next C, pick up 1 C, pass through the next C, pick up 1 C, pass up through the next A in the circle (photo 6)

7. Working clockwise, pass through the next 3Cs (photo 7)

8. Pick up 2B, circle around anti clockwise around and down the end 1C (photo 8)

9. Repeat steps 3 - 8 five more times. But using the relevant colours to continue your chosen colour sequence. We chose ours to be red, white and blue. Make sure on the last step 8 - the 2B  you pick up matches in colour the 1B from step one

10. Pass through the next 1B - anticlockwise (photo 9)

11. Bring the two ends of your bracelet together, pass your elastic up through the 1 B at the end of the other end of your bracelet (photo 10a) and (working clockwise) pass through the next 1B (photo 10b)

12. Pick up 1B , working clockwise pass down through the next 1C, pick up 1B, pass through the next B. Your elastic ends should now meet (photo 11)

13. Tie two overhand knots, and trim (photo 12)
